Bridgeport is not a legal gun-unfriendly place. Actually the chief and his appointed licensor are quite helpful and kind. I approached getting my permit with some trepidation after reading some horror stories of some municipalities but these people changed my mind completely. Also, you are free to call or email questions directly to staff concerning laws and they actually care enough to answer/clarify. Very very good! I dropped a star because Bridgeport doesn't allow Air guns like simple BB guns. Why not? I can open carry a cocked and locked .45cal on my hip but I can't shoot cans with .177 bbs? That might need some review!
No hassles. Detectives were helpful and did not ask any intrusive questions. The whole process did take more time than I anticipated because I did not take into account that I applied during holiday season....other than that the process of getting the gun permit was smooth.
